ADMISSIONS POLICY AND
ARRANGEMENTS
The admissions policy of this school is common to all County Schools in West
Sussex. The policy is outlined on the West Sussex County Council website, www.westsussex.gov.uk. If you need to contact Pupil Admissions, please e-mail them at admissions.north@westsussex.gov.uk. We aim to be inclusive and apply the principles of equal opportunities at all times.
This coming academic year, our children will be admitted to school in the September of the year in which they are five.
From September 2011 the Admissions Code gives parents the right to choose whether they wish their child to start full-time or part-time in the Early Years Foundation Stage, subject to the caveat that children are receiving full-time education in the term following their fifth birthday.
Parents are very welcome to join our annual Open Day in the Autumn Term to look around the school. Please telephone the school office for an appointment.
An Introductory Evening is held during the Summer Term for all parents of
children who will be admitted during the following academic year. During this
evening the philosophy and curriculum of the school is outlined by the
Headteacher and introductions are made to the teaching, non-teaching and office
staff and to the Governors. Parents are also given an opportunity to look around
the school and to see the range of work accomplished by children in all classes.
This introductory evening is followed by a smaller meeting for parents
immediately prior to their child’s admission, at which more practical issues are
discussed and any queries or questions answered. This is usually planned to
coincide with one of the preliminary visits children make to their new class during
the term before their reception.
