ADMISSIONS POLICY AND
ARRANGEMENTS
The admissions policy of this school is common to all County Schools in West
Sussex. The policy is outlined in the booklet “Information for Parents” which is
published by the Authority. If you have not received a copy of this publication you may obtain one by writing to the Education Officer for Mid Sussex, County Hall North, Chartway, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 1XA, or by telephoning 0845 075 1007 and asking for “Pupil Services Section” or e-mail admissions@westsussex.gov.uk. We aim to be inclusive and apply the principles of equal opportunities at all times.
This coming academic year, our children will be admitted to school in the September of the year in which they are five.
* Autumn birthday children who are five between 1 September and 31
December will attend full-time after a two week part-time “introductory”
period.
* Spring and Summer birthday children who are five between 1 January and
31 August will attend part-time during the Autumn Term and then full
time from January.
* Spring and Summer birthday children may attend full-time before January
at the discretion of the Headteacher.
Parents are very welcome to join our annual Open Day in the Autumn Term to look around the school. Please telephone the school office for an appointment.
An Introductory Evening is held during the Summer Term for all parents of
children who will be admitted during the following academic year. During this
evening the philosophy and curriculum of the school is outlined by the
Headteacher and introductions are made to the teaching, non-teaching and office
staff and to the Governors. Parents are also given an opportunity to look around
the school and to see the range of work accomplished by children in all classes.
This introductory evening is followed by a smaller meeting for parents
immediately prior to their child’s admission, at which more practical issues are
discussed and any queries or questions answered. This is usually planned to
coincide with one of the preliminary visits children make to their new class during
the term before their reception.
