PARENTS AND SCHOOL
We see ourselves working as part of a partnership between home and school. A child’s parents are his/her major influence and there is a quantity of research evidence to show that the greatest progress in school is made by children whose parents and teachers co-operate and consult. We want you to feel welcome in the school, to feel that you can take an active part in its work and to feel that the door is open to you to come in and discuss any worries you may have about your child
or family circumstances. The first years of a child’s formal education should be a time of excitement and beginnings which are rewarding for both school and home.
We send regular newsletters home keeping you informed of events in school life. Please keep a watchful eye on your child’s book bag for newsletters and information. Read them and respond; discuss the contents with your child showing him/her that you know what is happening during the school day. We hold Parent Consultation Evenings every term and a major Curriculum/Open Evening once a year. In addition to these formal times, the teachers are available before morning school or, more usually, after school to discuss any aspect of a
child’s progress.
We invite parents to help us in school in a variety of ways, eg reading groups, cooking, sewing, number games, art and craft activities. Do please offer your services if you can spare a little time on a regular basis. These arrangements are subject to a CRB check. The class teacher will guide you and will appreciate any talent or experience you have to share.
