Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians
As the weather forecast for this week is predicting snowfall in this region, I am writing to inform you of the procedures we have in place for you to be able to ascertain whether the school is closed in the event of severe weather conditions.
The responsibility for making the decision to close a school because of weather conditions or any other emergency is ultimately the Headteacher’s in consultation with the Chair of Governors. The decision about school closure will be made using all available information as early as possible in the morning. As you will appreciate this decision also involves a risk assessment of the school site and the outlying road conditions for staff, parents, carers and guardians who travel to school.
The school will inform the following organisations who will advertise closures, West Sussex County Council, BBC Radio Sussex, Heart Sussex FM Radio and advice will be sent via ParentMail to all parents who are registered with this service. If you are not signed up to ParentMail and would like to, please contact the school office.
Ways to check:
West Sussex County Council internet page http://wsgfl.westsussex.gov.uk
BBC Radio Sussex 95.3FM or 104.5FM or 104.8FM or DAB
Heart Sussex FM Radio 102.4FM or 103.5FM or 97.5FM or 102.7FM
ParentMail
Please note, if the school site is closed due to adverse weather conditions, Kids Like Us and Little Acorns Nursery will also be closed.
Finally, during this period of severe weather can you please ensure your child brings a warm coat and other suitable cold weather clothing as we always aim to take the children out for some fresh air every day.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Sue Winn
Headteacher
